Vande: I saw it! I saw the Mountain Roc with my own eyes! It was like a flying mountain of stone... Its cry was a new kind of music, and I shall try to bring it to our next performance. Back to Belinsk!
[He leaves.]
| Saha Town |
[Outside:]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Saha Town Item Seller: Is that a roc feather you've got there? Let me take a closer look... That's a big feather, all right, but I don't believe it's a real roc feather.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Saha Town Gear Seller: Yeah, yeah—I'm sure you've got a real roc feather to sell. Just like the last three guys.

PR14: If you're looking for Briggs, he's probably sleeping inside the ship. Again.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[If you try to leave through the gate:]
Karis: Hey, Briggs told us we can't go in and out of there right now, remember?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pirate 1: Those shipwrights offered the cap'n 'is money back if we'd just leave, but 'e won't give up on that old tub.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PR11: Good grief! This ship is in even worse shape than I first thought! Can we just scuttle her and be done?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pirate 2: I was sure that someday I'd understand why the cap'n loves this old, rotten tub so much... But now I'm sure he's just crazy.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PR12: Yeesh. Fix one thing, another breaks. Repair that, the first busts open again! ...W-we're never going to finish, are we?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Below decks:]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PR13: Captain Briggs seems to spend more and more of every day sleeping. I guess age catches up to everyone...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[When you approach Briggs:]
Briggs: Hmmmm... Eh, time to get myself a snack...
[He sits up and notices Matthew.]
Briggs: Matthew? You're here...
[He stands on the bed, looks around, and then sits.]
Briggs: Where is Eoleo?
Tyrell: What, like we just went off and rescued him without you?
Briggs: Hmmph... No, I guess not...
Rief: What about what Tret said?
Briggs: You guys talked to Tret?! What'd he have to say for himself?!
Amiti: He did not offer advice on the Belinsk situation, if that is what you are asking.
Briggs: Yeah, figures...
Karis: But we still need to go to Belinsk. Maybe while we're there we can meet up with Ryu Kou.
Briggs: Ryu Kou, huh? Is he in Belinsk, too?
Tyrell: What, do you know him or something?
Briggs: That little country that Volechek destroyed, he was the prince or somethin'... Guess he left 'is sister and took off. As to what happened to him, you said you might see him, so I guess he's in Belinsk now. Trying to help his sister, maybe?
[They stare at Briggs.]
Briggs: You're gonna ask me to help him while I'm busy rescuing my only son?
[They nod.]
Briggs: What a pack you are!
Tyrell: Yeah, this guy has to be Briggs!
Rief: Um, about that ship...
Briggs: Nothin' to talk about. It's still not fixed.
Amiti: But we have no time to spare! It is almost the day scheduled for Eoleo's execution!
Briggs: Try to get it through your head: without a ship, there's nothin' to be done, and that ship won't be fixed in time.
Karis: But Eoleo is your son! And you're just going to give up on him?!
Briggs: Yeah, I know he's my son. And '’m just thrilled to have to leave him to those Belinsk jackals, believe me. If the ship were fixed, it would be a different story. As it is, I'm helpless.
Amiti: But how will—
Briggs: Tell you what—you go on ahead.
Rief: What, you want us to go without you?
Briggs: Exactly.
Tyrell: You're joking! We came all this way to help YOU.
Briggs: And I appreciate it. But what I need is for you to not wait for me and get there as soon as you can.
Karis: Some father! Waiting around on a dock while others rescue your son!
Briggs: I'll set sail for Belinsk as soon as I've got my boat fixed. Trust me.
Tyrell: Trust you?! Trust the pirate who doesn't care about his own son’s execution?!
Briggs: I’m tellin' you, I'll meet you in Belinsk. You'll see. I just need to finish these repairs before I go.
[He falls backwards and goes back to sleep. They stare at him for a bit.]
Rief: What should we do?
Amiti: I am completely opposed to helping this man in any way.
Karis: So what then? Do we just forget about going to Belinsk? Look, I don't expect much from Briggs, but I do think we still need to go to Belinsk. It's our only way forward.
-Onward!-
Briggs: Errrrhhh... Ohhhh...

[Main City Outside:]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B01: Do you know about this evening's entertainment?
Matthew: [Yes]
B01: Yeah! I can hardly wait for that rotten Eoleo to get what's coming to him in the boiling pot!
--------------------------
Matthew: [No]
B01: You haven't heard? The infamous pirate Eoleo is going to be executed by boiling! I can't wait!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B02: Yes! They've got Vande back with them! We'll finally get to hear them at their best again.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B03: Ooh! Looks like the whole band is here for the festival! Maybe we'll be lucky and they'll play THAT song.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B04: When my fur wasn't quite so thick, I couldn't stand public executions. They just seemed so...barbaric. Now that I'm a little older, I've got a strange sense of anticipation about tonight's boiling.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B06: Belinsk was built on some sort of ancient ruins. I guess the old place had something to do with the moon? I gather the whole reason for the full-moon festival is to beg the heavens to restore the ruins.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B07: Not long after Volechek took power, the public executions started—a nice distraction for the people.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B08: That noise from the direction of Teppe sounded like a bird. A really BIG bird. You don't suppose...?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B09: It used to be that Morgal was very dangerous under the full moon, when beastmen have short tempers. There would be many fights on those days. Of course, now we have public executions to take the edge off...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Piano: Thanks to you, our favorite fan came back to town!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bass: A certain someone just returned to Belinsk and told us that a group of warriors would come soon.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Vande: I'm happy to announce that your voices have been heard, and we're about to play "Arangoa Prelude"!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Violin: We've all been waiting for an excuse to throw ourselves into "Arangoa"!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Drums: A little bird told us there would be a request for "Arangoa Prelude" tonight.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Inside:]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Beastman Granny: Yes, we're all overflowing with vigor and power on the full moon, but we always beware the new-moon fatigue.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Beastman Gramps: What a wonderful day for a festival! I'm so grateful just to be here to enjoy it!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Inn:]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B10: Beastmen who were originally beasts get an energy boost from the full moon, but that's nothing. The ones who really get crazy in the moonlight are the ex-humans. Those guys know how to party!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Weapon/Armor Shop:]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B11: Wow. I expected a crowd for the festival, but nothing like THIS...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Healer's Place:]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B12: Awww... The human beastmen just love their full moons. It's really very cute...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B17: WOO HOO HOOO HOOOooooo! Nothing like a full moon to get your blood pumping!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Docks entrance:]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B13: *Sniff, sniff* ...What did you guys just have for dinner? You smell like some kind of divine poultry!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B14: Yay! It's festival day!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B15: Under a full moon, there's nothing that a beastman cannot accomplish. It just so happens that we won the war against the Sanans on a full-moon day.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[When you go to make the request:]
Trumpet: Hey—got a request?
Matthew: [Yes]
[See below.]
--------------------------
Matthew: [No]
Trumpet: Hey! Today's the festival—comes once a month. You can request or not, but we'll keep playing.
(*Continuing*)
Trumpet: Right... "That" song... Do you want us to go ahead and play that right now?
Matthew: [Yes.]
[See below.]
--------------------------
Matthew: [No.]
Trumpet: Wanna hear another?
Matthew: [Yes]
[He will start up any of the other songs if you request them here.]
--------------------------
Matthew: [No]
Trumpet: Gotcha. Come back anytime if you want to hear "that" song.
(*Continuing*)
Drums: Ahem... One... Two... Three...
[The song starts. After a bit, the instruments start floating but the song keeps playing somehow. All the beastmen seem to be in a trance. The statue behind them rises and a doorway is revealed.]
Disembodied Voice: Matthew...
[The party looks around.]
Sveta: [dis.] It's me...Sveta.
Rief: Do you all hear Sveta's voice?
Tyrell: Sveta...of the Czamaral clan?
Sveta: [dis.] So you know about that name... There is no time now, but I will explain further.
[They look around the plaza for her.]
Sveta: [dis.] There's no use looking around for me—I'm not there.
Amiti: It seems Sveta is somehow projecting her voice directly into our minds.
Sveta: [dis.] Yes, that's it exactly.
Karis: One more thing you were hiding from us...
Sveta: [dis.] No, this conversation is actually thanks to "Arangoa Prelude"! You do not believe me? I know you think you cannot trust me because of the secret about my brother... But there is no time for doubt. When the music ends, we won't be able to speak anymore!
[They don’t do anything, which she takes as a good sign I guess.]
Sveta: [dis.] Thank you for giving me a chance. Now please hear me out... "Arangoa Prelude" is your key into the ruins. While it plays, most people are mesmerized. But hurry! Enter the ruins underground through the statue before the music ends. Now!
-Onward!-
[Outside:]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Text: He seems entranced by the music.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Text: She seems entranced by the music.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[NOTE: In case you were wondering, the song will only end once you enter the castle. Only beastmen outside are affected by the music, so you can still enter any shops and use them. You can also leave town and run around Morgal and it will still be playing when you get back.]
