Apollo Sanctum pt. 2, Belinsk (fourth visit), & Ending

← Prev | Next →

[Complete version on GameFAQs!]

[When you approach the back of the statue that now has the ladder up:]
Sveta: This must be the way to the Apollo Lens's controls. It's...amazing. Let's activate it quickly!
Mysterious Voice: [off-screen] Vrrooooon!

[A large beast lands in front of them.]

Beast: Vrrooooon!
Sveta: Help!
Matthew: !!
Karis: Sveta!
Tyrell: Sveta!
Rief: What does it want?
Amiti: How will we stop it?
Eoleo: This is gonna hurt.
Himi: ...everyone involved.

[Without warning, the Beast is given a name. It's now called the Chaos Hound.]

Chaos Hound: Vrrooooon!
Sveta: Help!
Chaos Hound: Hrroooooo!! Hrrrrrooooo...

[It gleefully heads toward Sveta.]

Chaos Hound: Hrrrroooo...
Sveta: HELP!
Tyrell: Are you an Adept or not? Use some Psynergy on it!

[Sveta uses Slap on it.]

Chaos Hound: Gaaraaauunn...
Eoleo: Looks like you just made it madder!
Himi: Not angry... Very, very sad...
Sveta: Those are tears...
Amiti: What is wrong, Sveta?

[Sveta tries using Spirit Sense.]

Sveta: You're fighting it, aren't you? I feel the conflict within... I will help you...
Chaos Hound: Harrroooo...

[The others try to approach and the Chaos Hound turns toward them.]

Chaos Hound: Gaaraaauunn...
Sveta: No!
[The Chaos Hound gives a soft growl and slumps over.]
Tyrell: OK, he's calmed down again.
Eoleo: Is he...shrinking?
Karis: He looked like just another monster...
Eoleo: Still looks like a monster to me.
Rief: No, its behavior is all wrong...
Kraden: The flood of dark energies... The moment we appeared, it was ready to attack. I think it's been in pain for some time. If Sveta hadn't spoken to it, the creature would certainly have attacked us. Why so calm now?
Sveta: And why can I hardly look at this creature without wanting to cry...?
Chaos Hound: Haroooo...

[Dark Psynergy appears around the Chaos Hound.]

Chaos Hound: Gaaraaauunn!
Sveta: Noooo!
[The others seem startled.]
Sveta: He's fighting it! Don't interfere!
Chalis: [off-screen] Looks like I have no choice...
Chaos Hound: Vrrrrooooon!

[Chalis is standing behind the Chaos Hound.]

Chalis: I hate to make it hurt more, but I need you just a bit more destructive...

[Blados warps in by its other side.]

Blados: Time to repay all we've done for you.
Chalis: Hmph. Not much fight in him. Maybe we should have stalled longer. We did everything we could, but he's just too strong willed.
Chaos Hound: Garaaunnooo!
Blados: Ready?
Rief: I guess it was a monster...
Kraden: There must be a way to calm it again...
Chalis: Don't give them time to think! Looks like our pet is ready to fight!
Karis: We're here to stop the eclipse. If we have to fight, so be it.
Blados: Oh, we'll take care of the eclipse...when the time is right.
Chalis: As pleasant as this little chat has been, I'm afraid we can't let you live any longer. But we are genuinely grateful to you- we simply weren't equipped to start the other Alchemy Machines… And without the power they provide, the greatest weapon of the ancient world wouldn't now be in our hands!
Blados: This won't be like before, kids. All this dark energy is making us stronger than ever. Oh, and our little pet...
Chaos Hound: Gaaarrooooowww!
Kraden: You must stop them, Matthew. If they get their hands on the Apollo Lens, we're doomed.
[The Chaos Hound lets out a fierce growl.]

[Once you down the Chaos Hound in the battle, the next scene begins. The Chaos Hound is slumped in defeat.]

Blados: Pathetic. How do a bunch of children beat the elite of the Tuaparang Empire?
Chaos Hound: Hrroooooo!
Chalis: Blados, I think it's time to fall back on our alternate plan. Let's call on the power of Dark Binding!
Chaos Hound: Gaaraaauunn!

[Bladas and Chalis start using Dark Psynergy. The Chaos Hound stands and lets out a roar.]

Chaos Hound: Gaaarooowwwn!
Rief: What is...that? In the shadows?
Kraden: Dark spirits! They're merging with the energies of the eclipse!
Chaos Hound: GaaarroooOOOOWWNN!
Blados: No! I'm getting pulled in too!
Chalis: We can't let Matthew's whelps win! If we're absorbed, then so be it!

[They're pulled into the monster.]

???: RRROOOOAAAAWWWRR!
Kraden: This is a dangerous enemy, Matthew. It will challenge you as never before! Are you sure you're ready?

Matthew: [Yes]
Kraden: Then let the battle begin!
--------------------------
Matthew: [No]
Kraden: Then hurry and prepare yourself for what lies ahead!

[The menu comes up. When you close it:]
Kraden: Are you sure you are up to this challenge?
[You get the Y/N menu with the same results as before.]

[If you close the menu without all the Umbra Gear equipped:]
Sveta: Oh, I haven't got all the Umbra Gear equipped! Can you help me with it?

(*Continuing*)

[The obvious final boss which is about to be identified as the Chaos Chimera lets out another cry.]

[After the fight, Blados, Chalis, and the Chaos Hound lay defeated, no longer fused together.]

Blados: Looks like we lose.
Chalis: The darkness will fade...
Chaos Hound: Hrrooooooo...
Kraden: Excellent work, everyone. You've done your parents one better.

[Sveta approaches the Chaos Hound and sniffs it.]

Sveta: Agh!
Karis: Sveta?! What's wrong?
Sveta: My...my brother...
Matthew: !!
Karis: Who...?
Tyrell: Huh?
Rief: Your brother, Sveta?
Eoleo: It's Volechek?
Amiti: This is not possible.
Himi: How could this happen?
Tyrell: What's...?
Karis: We didn't know...
Rief: What happened...?
Chalis: I can tell you. As he was nobly sacrificing himself, we used dark Psynergy to...hm..."save" him.
Blados: And we made a few improvements while we were at it.
Kraden: You took his mind and forced him to fight against his sister...
Chalis: We certainly tried. But he still recognized his sister somehow... Bestial instincts, I suppose.
Blados: But the family reunion won’t matter if you stop the eclipse...
Sveta: What do you mean?
Chalis: Volechek is now a creature of darkness. He won't be able to live in your world of light.
Blados: No undoing what we did, either. He wouldn't survive another big shock to his system.
Kraden: So there is truly no way for Volechek to live to see the end of the eclipse...
Amiti: Is there really nothing we can do, Kraden?
Kraden: If we had more time, maybe we could think of something...
Sveta: But we do not. Every moment that the eclipse goes on, countless people suffer and die. At the center of that suffering are the Morgal people. Volechek, as their king, has a responsibility to them.
Karis: Sveta...are you sure?
Sveta: You did not grow up as royalty, Karis. My brother...would understand.
Amiti: Sveta, if I were Volechek, I would be grateful to you for your courage.
Kraden: Then I think we have discussed this long enough. Matthew, the switch on the Apollo Lens... Would you kindly throw it now?

-Onward!-

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chalis: You think you're on the side of the angels, but the truth is that there are no angels. No right or wrong.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Himi: Matthew, I will never forget my time with you. You have been an inspiring leader.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tyrell: Thanks, Matthew. Thanks for leading us all this way.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Amiti: While it is hard to cause Sveta grief, it is the lot of all royalty to survive the loss of loved ones. Matthew, it is time to throw the Apollo Lens switch and end this terrible eclipse.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kraden: Matthew, the switch on the Apollo Lens... Would you kindly throw it now?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Karis: I guess this is what we've come all this way to do: turn on the Apollo Lens and end the eclipse. I just wonder...if we do throw the switch, what will happen to Sveta's brother?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Blados: Feh. Looks like you win.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rief: W-we...won, right? So why are there tears in my eyes?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Eoleo: I guess when Volechek dies, my old man will have been avenged...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Volechek: Hrrrooooooo! Hrroooooooooo!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sveta: I had thought he was dead, only to find he had become a monster. Now he dies again...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[If you try to leave the shadows:]
Kraden: Come on, Matthew! Where are you going? The time has come- throw the switch!
[You get warped back to where Matthew was standing before.]

-Onward!-

[Matthew tries to climb the shiny ladder, but as he nears the top he's thrown to the ground.]

Kraden: Don't succumb to the power of the light!
Karis: Steady, Matthew!
Tyrell: You can do it!
Rief: Good luck!
Amiti: Matthew!
Eoleo: You must succeed.
Himi: You can do this.
Sveta: You mustn't give up!

-Onward!-

[Matthew tries to climb it again, but as he nears the top, once again he's pushed off.]

Alex: [disembodied/off-screen/no one really knows] Stop.

[Matthew looks around.]

Alex: [dis.] Matthew, you cannot do this.

-Onward!-

[Being a complete idiot and not realizing that Alex is always right, Matthew tries to climb the shiny ladder AGAIN. Guess what happens? Yep, he's thrown back to the floor. Matthew stays down, seemingly unconscious.]

Blados: You might as well give up.
Chalis: You're going into the very heart of the light. You don't have enough of a dark side to survive it.
Blados: And Volechek's sister is the only one of your crew who can wear the Umbra Gear.
Chalis: And no matter how much shadow you wear, the amount of light up there will probably kill you anyway.
Blados: We were gonna send Volechek up there to get rid of him when he'd played his part.
Kraden: This would seem to be an impossible situation...
Karis: No! We can't believe that!
Tyrell: I wish I could do it for you, Matthew.
Rief: Time draws short...
Amiti: This has the look of a trap.
Himi: Poor Sveta.
Sveta: I...can do it...

[She tries to walk toward Matthew but drops to her knees.]

Kraden: Sveta has already been exposed to so much light. Any more will surely...
Volechek: Hrrrroooooo!

[Sveta manages to walk over to Matthew before losing her strength again.]

Sveta: Matthew, please help me. I will need to borrow your strength to reach the Apollo Lens...
Random Text God: Will you help her?

Matthew: [Yes]
[see below]
--------------------------
Matthew: [No]
Sveta: I cannot walk by myself. Please- I need your help.
[The same question appears again.]

(*Continuing*)

Creepy Golden-eyed Matthew: ...

[I am not making this up: Sveta somehow channels MATTHEW'S SOUL out of him and you can see it floating on her as you take over the controls with her.]

-Onward!-

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chalis: Give me the Umbra Gear. I'll be happy to go in your place...
[SS]: If I can get ahold of the Umbra Gear, we won't need to worry about the Apollo Lens...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Himi: Just being Morgal royalty doesn't make you responsible for this crisis, Sveta.
[SS]: Sveta's aura is different than I've ever seen... I believe Matthew's soul is within.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tyrell: Sveta, you've already done more than your share. Let it go.
[SS]: You’re reading my mind now, aren't you Sveta? Well, good luck.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Amiti: I know you feel that the eclipse is your fault because of your connection to Volechek, but you are blameless.
[SS]: This is nothing more we can do. I wonder why my mind drifts to Alex at times like this...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kraden: Sveta, we cannot ask you to risk your life like this. How can we help?
[SS]: Extraordinary! Somehow Sveta is borrowing Matthew's vitality...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Karis: We know you want to stop the eclipse, but you can't just throw your life away!
[SS]: So much sadness in your eyes... You really are going, aren't you?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Blados: So what about the switch? Having second thoughts?
[SS]: Grrr... I can't believe we failed because of this pack of brats...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rief: I wish I could go in your place. I don't like making you take the risk- it feels ungentlemanly.
[SS]: If this is beyond Matthew, it's certainly beyond me. I've never felt so helpless.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Eoleo: Looks like Matthew was able to keep you afloat a little longer. Keep at it.
[SS]: I'm a pirate, not a diplomat. I wish I could think of something inspirational to say here...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Volechek: Arrrooo... Arrroo... Roooo...
[SS]: Death...is...coming...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[If you try to leave the shadows:]
Kraden: If you want to go back to town, we should all go together.
[Svetatthew is warped back to the middle of the group.]

-Onward!-

[Sveta starts climbing the shiny ladder. About a third of the way up:]
Creepy Golden-eyed Sveta: Matthew, I'm sorry for making you come with me.

[When you're two-thirds up:]
Creepy Golden-eyed Sveta: At least we can die knowing that our lives might buy the lives of the others- a small price to pay.

[At the top of the ladder:]
Creepy Golden-eyed Sveta: Soon we'll reach the controls for the Apollo Lens, and this will all be over...

[She climbs onto the platform.]

Creepy Golden-eyed Sveta: All right, let's go.

[If you turn around, Sveta gets mad.]

Creepy Golden-eyed Sveta: It's too late to change your mind now. Let's just keep going.

[As she's approaching, suddenly...]

Volechek: [off-screen] Vaaaaarruuuu!

[Volechek lands on the platform in front of them. He hits Sveta and sends her flying off the platform. Matthew's soul is also knocked out of her. It lands back in his body in time for him to race forward and catch Sveta.]

Sveta: Brother...
Kraden: Volechek is still alive! What is the Apollo Lens aimed at?
Karis: It's over... We've lost.
Tyrell: There's gotta be a way!
Chalis: Heh...heh...heh.
Amiti: How pleased you must be that your plan is proceeding.
Blados: No, it looks like seeing his sister in danger has snapped Volechek out of it!
Chalis: I do believe he’s about to give his life for his sister and his people...
Sveta: Volechek!
Volechek: Sveta...farewell...

[He fires the lens. It whites out.]

[When the next image appears, Matthew paces in front of Belinsk Castle with Tyrell and Karis nearby.]

Karis: Would you relax, Matthew? I know you're anxious, but Sveta will be here soon.
Tyrell: Well, she's late. It's not like Sveta to forget her friends.
Guard 1: You're referring to Her Majesty, the queen?
Tyrell: Sveta is already the queen? You guys move fast.
Guard 1: Hmm. At any rate, Her Majesty left some time ago.
Karis: She left? Where did she go?
Guard 2: We were told she was seeing everyone off. She should be at the city gate now.
Tyrell: But...she promised to meet us at the castle gate...
Karis: Well, let's head into town and see if we can find her.

-Onward!-

| Belinsk |

[Outside:]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[If you check the castle or opera house doors:]
Random Text God: It's locked from the inside.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guard 1: Will you be returning home soon? You certainly deserve some rest after saving our entire continent.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guard 2: King Volechek was only able to save us with your help, so we thank you with all our hearts.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bass: Ah, music is my life, and life is my music. I'm grateful to King Volechek that I still have both.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Violin: Every member of the band was home when all the bad stuff happened, and we all survived!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Piano: I know we lost a lot of people, but it's easy to forget that when you're looking at a crowd like this. It looked like the end of the world, but I have a feeling it was really the beginning of the new one.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Drums: Amazingly, our whole band survived everything. I think that qualifies as a miracle.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Vande: Some ask how we can play after everything that happened. The answer is simple: people need music to heal.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Trumpet: Did you have a request?

Matthew: [Yes]
Trumpet: With six members, we can play three different songs. Would you like to hear one?
→ Mountain Roc Rising
→ Lake Bycal Moonlight
→ Rainbow over Koba Desert
→ Maybe another time...
--------------------------
Matthew: [No] (also "Maybe another time...")
Trumpet: We all enjoy wandering through Morgal playing for whoever wants to listen. Maybe music can't stop wars, but at least it helps people forget them for a while.

[Choosing Mountain Roc Rising:]
Trumpet: Great! Ready, guys? One, two, three, four...

[Choosing Lake Bycal Moonlight or Rainbow over Koba Desert:]
Trumpet: Great! Ready, guys? One, two, three...

[NOTE: These lines will be moved back to their original first appearance once I confirm where that is. Unless it's totally different earlier for some reason.]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I can't believe King Volechek is gone. We won't see his like again in our lifetimes...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There was a sharp light that struck the Eclipse Tower...and the darkness just evaporated!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I hear we won't be having the festival on full moons anymore... Pity. My son always loved it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For some reason it's now illegal to play "Arangoa Prelude." It makes me sad that I'll never hear it again.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've got powers just like an Adept, but instead of boring old fire and wind and stuff, I've got light!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I... I can see people who shouldn't be here...walking around. Sometimes they call out to me...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Since the Sol event, everyone has been endowed with strange new powers. My power seems to be calculating compound interest... It comes in handier than you'd think.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I guess our hair all changed colors because of the big Psynergy release out of the tower. I like my new do.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After the eclipse was over, we started calling it the Sol Tower. It seemed more fitting.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Inside:]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Elderly Beastlady: I keep finding puddles on the floor here. I wonder if the roof is leaking...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Elderly Beastman: I can't believe the cravings for tea I've been having lately! It's almost dangerous.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Inn:]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[I meant to see what happened if I tried to stay the night. Whoops.]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There's really nothing like the sun, is there? You never know how much you'll miss something until it's gone...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Weapon/Armor Shop:]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My heart weeps for King Volechek, the bravest hero I have known. I will fight in his name the rest of my days.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Healer's Place:]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have to say, I'm a little jealous of how much this "light Psynergy" seems to give the human-borns a boost.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Not every country's king would give his life for his country. King Volechek is Morgal's new patron saint.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Final organization on these coming soon, I got these down before I had decided on how I was going to list them and I can't remember.]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Everyone seems to have been rejuvenated. I feel so young and vital!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We thought Luna was the basis of the beastmen's power, but Sol empowers us too! Live and learn.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The light hit the tower like a sword slashing through the darkness. That's when everything changed. You say King Volechek was responsible? Amazing!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Going to the Opera House:]
Random Text God: It's locked from the inside.

[Docks:]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I wish we could take ye all the way home, but it bein' the other side o' the world, we'll say our good-byes here.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Seasoned sailors like you are wasted on the land. Come back and visit anytime!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If yer determined to get home, I'm sure nothin' any of us say or do could ever stop you!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Prob'ly about time we brought this ship into Port Rago for some repairs, eh?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I wonder if the legend be true...? Oh, sorry! Thinkin' out loud. Want to know about the legend?

Matthew: [Yes]
Briggs once told me about some kind o' special whirlpool that's a tunnel to another world. I didn't believe him at first, but he seemed so serious about it...
--------------------------
Matthew: [No]
Not interested in otherworldly treasure, eh? That's all right. Another time, maybe.

(*Continuing*)

Now that I think on it, there was an adventurer who sailed all over, looking for that whirlpool. If I'm not mistaken, he's a merchant in Yamata City now...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Matthew gets to the main gate.]

Karis: Where is everyone?
Tyrell: Looking at it one more time, I guess Belinsk isn't such a bad place.

[Eoleo is shown approaching.]

Tyrell: What are you doing?
Eoleo: Seeing you off!

[The others are with him.]

Amiti: I waited as long as I could.
Rief: It was time to go.
Kraden: I assume we'll be leaving soon as well, Matthew?
Himi: I will think of you often.
Sveta: We will see each other again, right?
Karis: Of course. We're all young, except for Kraden, and he doesn't age!
Vande: [off-screen] Thanks for all you've done for us, Matthew.

[They turn to see the Minstrels and citizens standing on top of the gate. Unidentified villagers say the following lines:]
You saved us all!
You're leaving?
You guys are my heroes!
Please come back to visit sometime!
Are you going home to see your parents again?
Take it easy for a while. You've earned it.
Your friendship is an inspiration.
You made it through all the dangers!
We'll happily play for you anytime.
We need you!
Karis: Where did they come from?
Sveta: From all over Morgal. They wanted to see you off and give you their thanks.

[More unidentified villager lines:]
Everyone owes you their gratitude.
How can we thank you enough?!
Don't go! Stay here with us!
Tell us about all your adventures!
You can't go away!
Don't forget the people of Belinsk.
You won't be able to hear us play...
Don't you like Morgal?
Stay in Belinsk. Please?
Sveta: This is how they all feel...?
Tyrell: It's nice to be liked, huh? But it's probably time to get this roc feather home...
Eoleo: Had enough gratitude? I guess I'll head home too, after I drop Himi off in Yamata.
Himi: Thank you.
Amiti: My countrymen no doubt await my return. I will leave shortly.
Rief: And what shall we do?
Kraden: Whatever you think is best. From now on, you will learn not from me, but from the world. There are always new mysteries to solve.
Karis: The longer we stand here, the harder it is to leave. Let's go home.

[Matthew, Karis, and Tyrell, start walking off. Sveta runs behind them for a bit waving, wiping a tear from her eye. They turn and look back at everyone. Tyrell poses. They turn and walk off.]

[The credits roll.]

Karis: Ah, it's good to be back!
Tyrell: Nice to see the good ol' cabin again, eh, Matthew?
[Matthew seems troubled.]
Karis: What's wrong, Matthew?
Tyrell: Aren't you happy to be home?
[Matthew slowly points at something]
Karis: What, Matthew?
Tyrell: Look over there!

[Karis turns. We see a huge Psynergy Vortex near the cabin.]

| The End...? |
