[When you first enter:]
Eoleo: Home...sweet home?
Champan Man 1: Hey, it's Eoleo! When did you get home?
Champan Woman 1: Eoleo! It really is you!
Champan Man 2: Eoleo? I heard you were dead!
Champan Woman 2: Welcome back. We could use a little cheer right now.
Champan Man 1: Where's Briggs?
Champan Woman 1: Didn't he come back with you?
Champan Man 2: I thought he was heading out to rescue you!
Champan Woman 2: That ship looks like his...
[Eoleo frowns and shakes his head.]
Eoleo: See... It's like this...
[One fade to black later, and they're in the inn tent.]
Eoleo: So that's what happened.
Champan Man 1: Sounds rough.
Champan Woman 1: An honorable pirate to the end...
Champan Man 2: Seems like all these Warriors of Vale and their kids were a good influence on Briggs. He wasn't always so heroic.
Champan Woman 2: So you're going to go and stop the eclipse now? Thank goodness! Be careful, though.
[Everyone starts leaving, but the mustachioed man stops.]
Champan Man 2: Obaba is in the house on the cliff. She has refused to budge from the spot. I know you're anxious to get going, but take a short rest first. You'll feel better.
-Onward!-
[Outside:]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Champan Man 1: Once, Champa was just a poor village. Now it's a poor country. Bigger does not mean richer.
Champan Man 1: [SS] When the Golden Sun made the land fertile again, we just didn't have any skilled farmers. We'd gotten so dependent on piracy for our living that we didn't even know another way of life...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Champan Woman 1: In the old days, Briggs used to bring food for the village. I guess we'll go hungry now...
Champan Woman 1: [SS] Briggs was practically the only one of us who knew anything about piracy. With him gone...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CC01: Somehow Obaba knew that something like this would happen, so she made us take our stuff out of the village.
CC01: [SS] I miss Obaba's stories, but she never comes down here anymore. Maybe I'll sneak up to her...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CC02: The village is burning up. Even if the eclipse gets over soon, we won't have anywhere to live.
CC02: [SS] I hope we can build new houses when this is all over. I'm done camping for now.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CC03: I guess Obaba is right... If burning the houses keeps the monsters at bay, that's what we have to do...
CC03: [SS] I know it's necessary, but it's hard to just watch the houses burn. And what happens when they're gone?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Champan Man 2: Since the eclipse, we've had to burn the houses to make light. Soon there won't be a village to save.
Champan Man 2: [SS] I miss my house...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Champan Woman 2: Who knew that old scalawag Briggs could die? I just assumed he'd be salt-preserved forever...
Champan Woman 2: [SS] As captain of the pirates, Briggs pretty much led the whole country. But he never wanted to be king...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CC04: Obaba was Briggs's grandmother, and Briggs wasn't a young man. How old is she?
CC04: [SS] Obaba's been around for as long as I can remember... I can't imagine Champa without her.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CC05: The village is just over there, but instead of living in it, we have to sleep in tents. What did we do wrong?
CC05: [SS] Why does my tent always seem to be filled with mosquitoes? And when can we go home?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CC06: Once Obaba goes, the ancient way of the Ankohl civilization will go with her. Sad...
CC06: [SS] If all of the Ankohl were as tough as Obaba, I can't imagine how they died out...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Champa Item Seller: [SS] It's only thanks to Obaba that we have survived. Her prophecy told us about the dangers of the dark.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Champa Healer: [SS] Those who believe pirates evil would do well to see how my flock cares for each other in this crisis.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Inn:]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Champan Innkeeper: [SS] What else can I do but open up the inn and let Matthew stay? Not for free, of course. Times are tough.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Weapon Shop:]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CC07: As a pirate nation, we always need weapons, so we keep the armory well stocked. Care to buy something?
CC07: [SS] Selling stuff the pirates claim as salvage or booty sure is profitable. I wonder if they've found any more treasure maps or other old gear...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CC08: Notice how shiny the weapons are? I shined 'em myself! ...With Dad's help, anyway...
CC08: [SS] That sword the pirates pulled out of the ocean sure was rusty, but it polished up nice!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Champa Weapon Seller: [SS] With Briggs gone, I guess I made the right choice, giving up raiding the Sanan Sea to open a shop. But I miss it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Armor Shop:]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CC09: These tents are kind of cramped, but my son managed to open a business in one, anyway.
CC09: [SS] I LOVE selling things we got for free. It's like getting money for nothing!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CC10: Sure, everyone needs weapons, but no one has any money to buy them. Why is the shop still open?
CC10: [SS] These people obviously have money and a ship. Why are they shopping for their weapons in a tent?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Champa Armor Seller: [SS] I wish I was half the smith that Obaba is. She once made a weapon that defeated the sea god Poseidon!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Outside:]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Text: The remains of some unfortunate soul.
C01: [SS] OK, trying to run back to the village to get my things wasn't my best idea...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
C02: If the fires go out, Obaba won't last. We have to keep finding more fuel to keep her safe!
C02: [SS] If we have to burn every house in our village to keep Obaba safe, so be it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
C03: If the old lady would just come down and join the rest of us, she'd be easier to protect!
C03: [SS] I get why Obaba doesn't want to leave, but I sure do.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Text: The remains of some unfortunate soul.
C04: [SS] Did this kind of thing happen everywhere, or just to pirates?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Text: The remains of some unfortunate soul.
C05: [SS] If only I'd been able to reach that cave under the wharf. I'd've been safe there...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Champa Grave 1: [SS] Spent my whole life at sea, and somehow managed to die on land... What were the odds?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Champa Grave 2: [SS] Never did get my proper land legs... If I'd been on a ship when that big wave hit, I would've been fine.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Champa Grave 3: [SS] What's with all the darkness? I only visit the material world for a little sunshine...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Champa Grave 4: [SS] I wonder how you haunt someone? That sounds like a sweet gig...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Champa Grave 5: [SS] Man, even death can't get "Lake Bycal Moonlight" out of my head!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Champa Grave 6: [SS] I wish I'd been buried at sea like Captain Briggs... That sounds neat.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[NOTE: This is the dialogue you get whenever you approach a Thermal spot for the first time.]
Eoleo: I got this one.
[Eoleo casts Psynergy that makes the flame a lot bigger.]
Eoleo: My Thermal Psynergy can create a solid updraft of warm air. It doesn't work everywhere, but it’s great in a spot like this!
[Inside:]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Oven: It doesn't seem clean enough to cook anything...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Text: The remains of some unfortunate soul.
C06: [SS] If the cap'n is gone now, maybe I should just get going my own self...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Book: Obaba's Blacksmithing Technique: I've tried to teach Briggs my unique skills, but it doesn't seem to take. If someone is to follow in my footsteps, it will be Eoleo. He's the only one with the power to infuse items as I do.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[When you exit by where Obaba is standing:]
Eoleo: Great-grandma...
Obaba: That voice... Eoleo?
[She sees everyone else with him.]
Obaba: Well, well... Here I thought you'd been captured by beastmen, and it turns out you were out making friends.
[She notices Kraden.]
Obaba: Wait...you?
Kraden: Hello, Obaba.
Text: Obaba looks closely at Kraden.
Kraden: I haven't seen you in 30 years...
Obaba: Yes! The old man! I remember you... Kradle...or something. But you look the same as you did then. How could that be?
Kraden: It's Kraden actually... It's also a long story.
Eoleo: Before you guys get started, I got something I gotta say. Can I say my piece?
Obaba: I don't know. It sounds like I'm not going to like it. But I suppose I'd find out eventually, anyway.
Eoleo: During the battle in Morgal...Dad...
[It fades to black. When it fades back in:]
Obaba: Briggs put up a good fight?
Eoleo: Yeah. He sure did, Great-grandma.
Obaba: So he's gone ahead of me... It seems your Obaba is doomed to unhappiness... I suppose I'll be following him soon enough. I'll be sure to give him a good talking-to when I see him…... Now, Kraden, you were exposed to the Golden Sun, and now you can't age. Does that sum it up?
Kraden: Erm, well, yes...
Obaba: To live so long in bones already old... I don’t envy your "gift." So who are the rest of you? Probably a ragtag group of scrappy heroes out to stop this nasty eclipse, eh? Good. As the old man can tell you, I have a knack with fire and the forge. If you find any interesting materials, bring them to me, and I'll make you gear you can't get anywhere else.
Eoleo: I'm going too, Great-grandma. See you around.
Obaba: I thought as much. Good luck.
-Onward!-
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[If you don't have anything forgeable:]
Obaba: Seasoned warriors like you must know rare materials when you see them. If you find any, bring them to me.
[If you have something forgeable:]
Obaba: You've got some pretty rare materials there. If you want some metalwork done, I'm your woman. Who's got something for me to work on?
[Once you select and confirm a material:]
Obaba: You want me to make something out of [item]?
Obaba: Yes, I can definitely make something impressive with this. Come back later and see.
[If you give her a rusty weapon:]
Obaba: You want me to rework this [item]?
Obaba: ...Yes... I can definitely polish this up nicely...
[If you select something she can't work with:]
Obaba: If that's all you've got, I don't know what you need me for.
[If you cancel out:]
Obaba: If you find an item that needs work or an interesting material, bring 'em by! I make things no one else can.
[When you pick up an item:]
Obaba: Your new gear is ready. Take it with you when you go.
Obaba: [SS] All warriors, but they all seem to use different kinds of equipment. They're just being difficult...
[If you go bother her at her forge:]
Obaba: Patience! You can't rush a job like this! Come back later.
Obaba: [SS] Spirits of earth and fire, let your strength be mine!
